Mother’s Day is May 12

May 7th, 2013

Mother’s Day is May 12th, and what better way to say ‘I love you’ to your Momma than with a well-designed gift! Rare Device has something for every type of mom, whether she loves gardening, cooking, or crafting.

You can never go wrong with a bit of chocolate. Everyday Chocolate by San Francisco’s {cocoa} has three distinctly flavored bars: Pure Dark Chocolate, Milk Chocolate with Coconut, and White Chocolate with Candied Violet. The packaging alone is a feast for the eyes– we love the bright colors and geometric lines!

Let’s face it, Mom was always the one who had to carry everything while we were growing up. Give her one of Jen Hewett’s Foldover Bags so she can have a place to put whatever she wants in it! Crafted from heavy linen with a sturdy zipper, these locally-made bags are great for taking anywhere.

If jewelry is more to her liking, Shana Astrachan’s simple ‘Tiny Hearts’ necklace is a thoughtful way of reminding your Mom how much you love her!

Mom could always use a day of relaxation, so treat her to Further’s Hand Lotion or Lucia’s soy candles. Both are made from high-quality ingredients and smell amazing! Or, if you want to forgo the whole ’spa-day’ route you can pick up a few of these hand-blown glass Pebble Bud Vases and fill them with flowers.

We are closed for a week

April 29th, 2013

Urban dwelling is filled with surprises, and two months ago one occured on Rare Device’s doorstep with a bang. A car crashed into the hydrant in front of the store, causing a major flood. We were happy to hear that there were no major injuries, but bummed that we lost inventory and the building suffered water damage.
This week, starting Monday April 29th, we’ll be closed for about a week so that repairs can be done to our flood-damaged wall and ceiling. We will also be unable to ship out any online orders until we re-open on (hopefully) May 7. We appreciate your patience during this time, and regret any inconvenience this causes.

The good news is that we will be open in time for the Divisadero Art Walk on May 9 and for you to get your Mother’s Day shopping done! Mother’s Day is on Sunday, May 12. We have 2 gallery shows going up right after we re-open. Featuring Dutch Door Press and Julia Gabriel. See you next week!

For the month of May, we have also moved our monthly story, song and dance time to the 2nd Friday, May 10th.

In the meantime, you can catch us at our 1-month pop-up at Makeshift Society starting Wednesday, May 1.
