We have two new candle-related lines and another wallpaper line for you! First up is Mood Candles, soy wax candles in glass jars and clean, contemporary packaging. Next is the Modern Candlestick Holder for your tabletop, it takes tapers and collapses small for storage. Both of these are in the webshop’s New Arrivals section.

Finally we have Aimee Wilder wallpaper - we are working on getting these online but if you are in San Francisco, come by Rare Device to see larger samples!

We are so happy to receive brand-new designs on pillows and wall prints by Three Sheets 2 the Wind. We have been working with Jenny for several years now and always ooh and ahh when we get a new shipment in. We’ll have the new designs on our website soon!

For more ways to decorate your place, we also have sets of art prints from Sweden’s Studio Violet. There are two sets of two prints each but all four would look so great together, especially in a kid’s room. These are online in our New Arrivals section.

So changes are in store later on as I (Rena) am pregnant, and less mobile by the day, and that means fewer visits to gift shows and such. Ultimately it means to scouting the old-fashioned way, which is great, and will ensure that Rare Device will always have rare stuff for you.

Some things we are looking forward to are lovely candlestick holders made in California (see above) that break down into four pieces for easy storage. We are also anticipating Aimee Wilder wallpaper designs, from Brooklyn, as well as an awesome tiny alarm clock and a bright and very modern desk set (scissors, stapler, tape dispenser, clock) that are produced in Japan. Stay tuned as these arrive this summer!

We just wanted to announce that we will be CLOSED on Sunday the 28th because we are celebrating Gay Pride and the parade that day! If you are here from out of town, you will have a great time. We’ll be open on Saturday the 27th until 7pm as usual.

It’s a gorgeous day and the delivery guys are coughing up many packages for us. We finally have some new gift wrap in, shown above. The designs are by UK faves Sukie and Nineteenseventythree and they are on natural-colored recycled paper.

We have two new books as well, one on the work of an avant-garde typographer and the other a collection of grids, plus a handy CD-ROM. We also have more treats from Ferdinand, including a very funny t-shirt for the guys…all of these will be up in our webshop soon.
