We recently got a bunch of design books in and here are three great and very different ones. They are all available in the webshop.

Modern Menswear is a survey of the beautiful, cutting-edge men’s fashion; Show and Tell is a new volume about children’s book illustration; and Robin and Lucienne Day is a comprehensive book on the couple known as the British Eames. All are beautiful!

Rare Device got a little shout-out in the NY Times in an article about the mystical connection between Brooklyn and SF. They mention us and Mollusk Surf Shop as two bicoastal shops that seem like a good fit for both towns. I hear that Built By Wendy is opening up soon in the Mission District so it’s good to know the love is continuing to flow in both directions.

When I was in Brooklyn, we did have a lot of ex-Bay Area folk who lived in the neighborhood (who generally equated Park Slope with Noe Valley, when we talked) and I am always happy to see Brooklyn folk visiting and making the pilgrimage to the SF shop. So, maybe there’s something to it

We uploaded lots of cool new things to our online shop today, most notably these screenprinted posters by Wayne Pate which we LOVE.

Yet more cute menswear at the SF store! Kanvis, an LA brand, sent a box of their supersoft shirts, a raw denim jean and two soft and faded pants and they definitely say “waiting for a table for brunch” to me. They are sourced and made in LA but remarkably are lacking any painted or rhinestone detailing…I know some people love that but we are all about the updated classic workwear at Rare Device.
