We are pleased to bring a new paper good lines into Rare Device. Dressco is designed by the daughter of a Japanese paper merchant, and obviously she is obsessed with paper. Kayoko says “our designers are kept intentionally clean and simple – emphasizing the qualities of paper itself – the look, weight, texture, finish, and of course the color.” The result is an incredibly civilized collection of notebooks and envelopes that is like a merge of fashion and paper goods. Attention has been paid to the size of the notebooks, the cover paper and the different interior papers too. The envelopes are embossed subtly and would be great to slip a thank you note into, or perhaps store receipts and documents while travelling. We’ll have these in the webshop soon.

Shows and Events

You have just five days left to enjoy the Arounna Khounnoraj show in the Rare Device gallery! We are in awe of her beautiful works. Then, we will be prepping for the arrival of Mark Warren Jacques. The opening is next Friday night, April 3.

And then, prepare to say hi to Mimi Zeiger as we are hosting the signing for her new book, Tiny Houses, published by Rizzoli. We have not seen Mimi much since she moved to the East coast so it’s a treat to have her in the store. Save the date: April 8 from 6-8pm.

Back in Stock

If you asked us what our most popular items were, we would have to say the keyaki wood tea cups and the pewter bird feet. Both have been out of stock for a while and both arrived just today! We also have more of the tiny and cute elephant incense holders, and a new item, an iron feather ornament made in Japan that would be a great paperweight or mantel object.

My Fave Products of Late!

Monday, March 23rd, 2009

Hello RD pals,

I am really loving all of the stuff that’s coming in this Spring to our shop. We ordered some really fantastic stuff when we were in NY this past January. Here are a few of my personal faves right now…

First, this awesome white ceramic bowl that sits on a wooden trivet. By Sagaform, Sweden. Simple, modern, functional. Perfect.

Next, I am ready to put this wallpaper in my house somewhere. I think it’s just stunning. It’s by artist, illustrator and designer Julia Rothman, and it produced by Ferm Living.

I also love this book by Nigel Peake, this book (oh, swoon), and this awesome t-shirt by Ape Do Good.

I’ll be back next week with more favorites!
