Rare Device is Looking for New Owners!

April 3, 2024

Giselle Gyalzen, owner of San Francisco’s beloved artist-focused gift store, Rare Device, announced today that the business is looking for a new owner.

“I have had the time of my life running this beautiful store, and I’m so excited to find the person or people to lead the next phase of Rare Device,” Gyalzen said. “I am excited to move on to my next phase in life, and to learn, grow, and contribute in new ways. But first, I am committed to look for someone who will continue Rare Device’s legacy of championing art by providing an inspiring platform to show and sell people’s work.”

Gyalzen adds, “I am proud to say that this is not a story about a small business that is struggling in San Francisco. On the contrary, Rare Device has made it through and out of the pandemic, with support and love from our community, and I continue to enjoy running a fun and sustainable business. It is built to survive and thrive for years to come.”

“This business is built around people - including the artists and makers creating our products, our committed staff, who we hope can continue their careers here, and our loyal customers, who have supported us through the 13 years that I have been at the helm.”

Gyalzen has created a solid foundation for Rare Device to grow in unlimited ways. “We are in the most prime corner retail location in the city, on busy Divisadero street . We have loyal customers and a steady stream of visitors from out of town. We have a great relationship with our landlord, and we have built very functional systems ensuring our business operates smoothly. We know there is going to be a lot of interest from the community about taking over this business and we want to find the buyer who is the right fit, so now’s the time to reach out to us to start a conversation.”

If you are interested in finding out more about taking over Rare Device, please contact Giselle via email at interested@raredevice.net.

In the meantime, you can expect the same curation, level of service, and fun events at Rare Device to continue. Come say hi and visit Rare Device at 600 Divisadero St, or online at raredevice.net.
